I am about to take the plunge into the apple laptop world. I have been studying the differences between the MacBook and the Pro for about a month now. While I understand the differences in price, processor, storage, etc, I am most interested in the impact given different usage profiles.
I am prosumer photographer, I use the internet and Adobe CS3 heavily. I want to expand into some movie editing.
Does the MacBook have enough juice to cover my use?

I think the the macbook would work sufficiently for you, but that the macbook pro would be the better choice.
My rule of thumb:
If you're doing the basics: word processing, email, websurfing, chatting/IMing, ilife (photos, etc) general-purpose stuff, then the macbook is a no-brainer.
If you're doing any heavy lifting (and I think almost all adobe products count as heavy-lifting, processor-intensive stuff, pro apps), then you should go for the pro
So buy the pro and it will last more than 2 to 3 years
I disagree slightly, Bob. I really think that if you have very basic needs (email, surfing, chatting, ilife), the macbook will be more than enough for a long time.
Outside of this, I agree with the philosophy.
