For many of the plug-ins below, you simply install by placing the *.dll file in the /Plug-Ins/ directory of your iTunes program file. If you do not have a /Plug-Ins/ directory, create one.

By no means is this a comprehensive list. If you would like to submit a new or updated link, simply reply to this post, USING THE FOLLOWING VBCODE TEMPLATE:

iTunesOnTop

iTunesOnTop addresses the number one whinge levelled against the otherwise excellent iTunes for Windows : "why won't it stay always on top like winamp does?"

It's a visualisation plug-in that will force iTunes to stay on top when it's in it's small player mode._ As an added bonus you don't need to make it the active visulization or otherwise enable it._ This is kind of fortunate since the visualization it does would induce epilepsy (blame the Apple SDK sample code).

Listen-to
Type: Web
Download Link
Register on Listen-to. Install the appropriate Plug-in.
Listen-to will allow you to publish data about the music you are currently listening to, live, to the web. It offers several formats in which you can do so.

Now Playing
Type: Web
Download Link

iTunes allow you to create plug-ins that can do various tasks for you. The Now Playing plug-in monitors the song you are listening to and publishes the data in various ways.

1. Creates a XML file with information on that song. A file called now_playing.xml is created in your iTunes Plug-ins directory.
2. The plug-in also offers you the ability to FTP/SFTP that file to a server of your choosing after its updated.
3. Create a TrackBack ping with the song information.

The idea is that you publish the XML up to your web server and then through some scripting magic, you can display your currently playing song. The plug-in supports publishing the current song, as well as a variable number of the most recently played songs.

npScript: mIRC announcing script for iTunes

This script uses the Mplayer plugin to create a message displaying what you are currently listening too:

http://www.lights-retinue.dk/npscript/

"I've been looking for quite a while for a decent "now playing" plugin/script for mIRC that does for iTunes what AMIP does for winamp... However, the only script I was able to find was a French script without many customization posibilities, and not being a French-talking kind of guy, and not liking the layout of the French script, I decided to take things into my own hands..."

It works and it even gives you a small remote window that allows you to change songs /play/stop what's going on in iTunes. After some tweaking and fixing it works great![b]

I'm interested...but when you say the ratings are based on how frequently you play them, does that mean how frequently you choose them to play manually? Or just how often they play from the time I start using the script?
